I'm running B2 right now using the Holmes rules (we've got a thread in Campaign Journals) and am having a lot of fun playing it straight and more-or-less "by the book" (I've already introduced some house rules regarding PC death, for example). Probably good for a sort of one-shot or short-lived campaign. This is probably only for fairly mature players, where such a bad guys are the protagonists. give the players a secret entrance to the keep via a drainage/sewer system and give them orders to infiltrate and kill the inhabitants. The Keep now becomes the primary location for plunder. The home base is centered on the caves, but there is also some room for intrigue between the various race factions. likely with classes that have a generally stealthy demeanor. Half-Orcs, Half-Ogres, Goblins, Kobolds, etc. Have the characters all be members of "evil" races. The source of the plague is within the evil temple portion which must be dealt with in order to halt the spread of the evil plague. probably running right back to the relative safety?! of the cleared caves.

Now the bulk of the keep inhabitants become antagonists and the characters have to make a break for it (perhaps with some other survivors).

unleash a zombie plague or something similar. After the characters have cleaned out parts of the cave, and they are feeling safe within the confines of the keep.
